My guess is that she doesn't have to "turn on the charm" as it were, because it's essentially always on. She gets mobbed by dudes even when it's personally inconvenient for her Saiki often uses this to great effect. While Saiki didn't just NOT "Offu", but he also completely ignored her and teleported away, tricking her into thinking she was maybe hallucinating him and maybe had a crush.

I like your point about Saiki's "Offu" being about Teruhashi's nature. I put forward the idea that this is the point where Teruhashi has had enough character development to become a kinder person and actually get close internally to that perfect persona she strives for, and Saiki did an "Offu" of respect because he just realized that she is so much closer to the perfection now after all after she got over her jealousy with Aiura lmao.

Okay i love this and thanks for the debate! I think generally, Teruhashi and her brother, unfortunately are surrounded by auras of beauty that draw people in whether the Teruhashi in question wants them to or not. However, that aura can expand or diminish based on Kokomis feelings. However, she does have her little tricks angel breath, patented morning smile that increases her daily total of gasps.

So putting in effort makes her more likely to endear herself to someone cough cough Saiki. You do make a great point about Hairo. Like if there was some middle ground between avoidance and love at first sight that would have satisfied her. Yeah, it does seem like there's some amount of minimum enthusiasm Teruhashi wants to see, which is funny and I wish we had a better idea of what that might be.

Would a "hey there, good to see you but I really gotta go" have been sufficient?? And I really wish we got to see more of what the P. Academy girls think about Teruhashi. She doesn't seem to have friends at all until she ran into Chiyo. Did she not hang out with other girls because they didn't give her that "minimum acceptable enthusiasm"?
