Post by Alien Redrum » Sat Nov 14, pm. Fuck, that didn't help my defense at all. You guys really didn't see any gay subtext? Guys sucking on each others' wrists? Darren straddling his best friend on the bed? No matter where they're going to get it from, it's going to seem to be kind of gay. That's unavoidable. Neither of them got any type of elation out of it, no subtext. Crepsley turned you buy transferring blood through the fingertips, totally the least possible gay way that could've happened.
When did you straddle your BFF in bed? I missed that part. I think a lot of that kind of thing is actually imagined by the reader most of the time. Like whatshisface said, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. I didn't find much at all in it. I don't think that was gay subtext. If so, then any book with males fighting is gay subtext. Just my opinion on that passage though.
I'm reading the Trials book, and I'm starting to agree with the gay subtext. I mean, the first trial is to give the Vampire Princes back rubs? And the second trial is to stay in the steam room naked? WTF again! The dude even starts crying afterwards because he doesn't want to break up. The WWE? Yeah, totally homo-erotic. But again, you can take any passage of two males fighting and say it's gay subtext.
